CEO & Managing Partner
Laddie is co-founder and chief executive officer of Bitterblue, San Antonio’s largest full-service real estate development and marketing company. He is also president of Denton Communities, central Texas’ largest and most successful lot wholesaler. Denton has developed and sold over 9,000 acres and 32,000 lots. He has been recognized as Builder of the Year in San Antonio and has served in a variety of board positions including Greater San Antonio Builders’ Association (president, vice-president, treasurer), Real Estate Council of San Antonio, Urban Land Institute (30-year member), chairman of the Building Program for Saint Mary’s Hall, Board of Trustees for Saint Mary’s Hall. Laddie earned a BBA and MBA from the University of Texas in Austin.
Principal Investor & Managing Partner
Hunter continues his family’s commitment to excellence in real estate development projects in Central Texas through Bitterblue. His responsibilities include identifying new projects, strategy, and investor relations. Prior to Bitterblue, Hunter was CEO of Splice, an award-winning photo and video editing software program which was acquired by a billion-dollar international technology firm. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, leadership, relationship management, and project development. Prior roles include Associate Director at CEB (now Gartner which is an advisory and leadership firm that provides advice to C-suite executives), Assistant Vice President at Morgan Stanley, and Pastor at Sterling Park Church. Hunter is an author and professor at the University of Texas in Austin. He earned a BA in Political Science, History, and English from The University of Pennsylvania where he competed on the swim team, and both a Masters and PhD from The University of Cambridge in England.
Scott Teeter
President & Managing Partner
Scott has over 25 years of experience with land acquisitions, financing, entitlement, development, and land planning, working in all 4 of the major Texas markets for large public homebuilders. He was responsible for the acquisition and development of over 15,000 lots and multiple master-planned communities. Prior to joining Bitterblue, Scott co-founded Heartwood Development Company and spent 12 years running the land functions for both Lennar and Ryland in Central Texas. Prior to his time in Central Texas, Scott worked in business development for Frito Lay in Dallas where he supported one of their largest product launches. He followed his mentors to Centex Homes where he played an integral role in the acquisition and integration of 4 homebuilding companies valued at over $210 million. Scott holds a B.S. in Finance from Penn State University’s Schreyer Honors College and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Strategic Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Scott is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
COO and General Counsel
David serves as the Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel of Bitterblue Investments. In addition to general operational execution and deal closings, he works with Bitterblue’s broader team to drive financial integration, fund strategy, platform growth, joint venture construction, fundraising, partner and investor relations, legal strategy and process management.
David has broad experience in the investment management space. As a consultant to investment advisers, David has assisted in investment operations, partnership construction and management, and investment underwriting in various asset classes. As a lawyer in private practice, most recently as a partner at Jackson Walker LLP, he counseled sponsors on private fund formation, structuring and operations as well as institutional and high-net-worth investors on private market investments, including primary fund investments, co-investments, acquisition of general partner stakes and other attendant matters. He also has extensive experience in real estate joint ventures as well as mergers and acquisitions (including buy-outs, take-privates, sell-side dispositions and various financings). Prior to Jackson Walker, David practiced law at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and served as a Law Clerk to Judge Simeon Lake of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
